Founded in 2016, the Houréra association is resolutely committed to three essential areas: international mentoring, medical relief and community support.
Medical relief and community support, as short-term initiatives, are tailored to specific needs, implemented through volunteer involvement, where 100% of aid is dedicated to improving communities. So far, we have helped children in Nigeria and Niger, renovated hospitals with a particular focus on pediatric sections, supported communities in Niger affected by major floods, provided medical visits to an entire village, and provided comfort to children through activities in which all volunteers directly participated.
The Houréra Mentoring project aims to establish links between young people residing in French-speaking Africa and qualified and experienced mentors based abroad. This program stands out because the mentors and mentees are located in different countries, thus promoting confidentiality of exchanges for young people who might hesitate to confide in their own country due to prejudices, local cultural considerations or the lack of people adapted to their needs.
Mentors play an essential role by listening, guiding and supporting young people morally and professionally in their personal projects or problems. Respect, confidentiality and non-judgment are fundamental principles of the program. The ultimate objective is to train young people equipped with appropriate tools, ready to face life's challenges and achieve their goals, thus contributing to the economic and social development of Africa.
